Tips To Clean and Maintain Your Glasses

There’s no need to introduce eyeglasses. We’ve all been using them or have tried them on at some point in our life. Just like all other things we have; eyeglasses need to be taken care of properly too. In this blog, we shall learn about some simple ways to keep them clean as well as maintain them.

Why is it important to clean eyeglasses?

We invest a lot of time in selecting the best pair of glasses. Right from the lens material to the frame shape, we simply go for the best things. Now, with some much time dedicated in picking the best pair for yourself, don’t you want to keep it in the perfect condition. But many people might ask why is it so important to clean them?

Well, imagine one day you are all set for your client meet and to make the best impression, you consider wearing your designer eyeglasses. But you suddenly notice that the lenses are all fogged up and the despite cleaning them, you cannot see clearly. Plus, the frame joints have become somewhat loose too. You then regret of avoiding the proper care of your glasses.

Simple & Easy-To-Follow Steps For Eyeglasses Care

Eyeglasses have two parts - frames and lens. Despite being two separate units, taking care of them can be done in a single go. Let’s learn about some simple steps:

Wash Your Hands Well: Yes, this is the very first step towards cleaning the lenses. Handling your specs with unwashed hands increases the chance of germs & bacteria spreading to your lenses and then to your eyes.

Rinsing: Before wiping your glasses, rinse them with water. There can be tiny specks of dust or dirt on the lenses that can damaged the lenses if wiped on a dry lens. Those specks can leave scratches on the lenses and even damage the protective coatings.

Use lens-specific cleaners: If you intend to use the cleaners on the lenses, make sure you are using the ones designed for lens cleaning and not some random cleaner. Using random cleaner can damage the protective coatings.

Use the right cloth: Always use the cloth provided with the glasses to clean the lenses. Refrain from using any random piece of cloth or even the tail end of your shirt. Tiny specks of dust or dirt might be present on the cloth and damage the lens coatings.

Store properly: If you have a habit of putting your glasses anywhere, refrain from it. Develop a habit of storing them in the given eyewear case.
